The office of Yandex company

Yandex, the largest Russian IT company, which also owns a similarly-named search engine and a web-site, needs no introduction.
This is the fourth project for Yandex executed by designers from za bor architectural studio. For the second year in a row Pyotr Zaitsev and Arseny Borisenko take the first prize in the ArchiEmbodiment of the ArchiContest. In 2009 they received the first prize for the Moscow office, and at the Vth ArchiContest the jurors distinguished Yandex-Yekaterinburg.

The Ural office of the company is located on the 15^th floor of the new Palladium business center. Its shape remains a horseshoe and is situated around the group of elevators and utility rooms. All workplaces were placed along panoramic windows, and the recreational zones were situated closer to the center. Inclined and asymmetric constructions, the trademark of za bor studio convey the concept of the rampant development of Yandex. The 'flying' effect was achieved with the help of NAYADA-Crystal partitions. All-glass NAYADA doors installed into partitions were equipped with closers and electromagnetic locks. The main difficulty was that partitions were installed not at the straight angle – Pyotr and Arseny tried to avoid symmetry in this project. However the round shape of the office and chamfered corners didn't prevent them from making the corridors straight.

Since Yandex company is famous for its formal approach to the working process and its staff works on a 24-hour basis, apart from a big and a small conference hall and an open space zone the project included a fitness hall, a kitchen, coffee points, as well as conference rooms detached from corridors with the help of NAYADA-Standart partitions.

Such partitions are not only aesthetically attractive but also soundproof. NAYADA-Crystal all-glass partition separating an open space zone and a conference room is also worth mentioning.
