The GEMSTONE conference table 12 Architects Create Furniture
NAYADA presented the new GEMSTONE conference table developed in cooperation with Francesco Morena , an architect, within the framework of the project “12 Architects Create Furniture”.
The Gemstone collection aims to explore the complex relationship between nature and design and to strike a balance that is both harmonious and functional. The chosen forms are modified in space, and transform from a solid metal base that is similar to a rock of variegated surface, to a sanded, wooden table top that is generated from clean and precise cuts. The mirror-like surfaces of the base reflect the colors of the surrounding space.
The first product of the collection is an executive desk; it was initially presented on the NAYADA’s stand at I Saloni exhibition in Italy. This executive desk is focused on the theme of a gemstone. For example, its veneer was specially selected to avoid traditional straight lines in the wood structure; in contrast, its gnarly and blister grain recalls malachite and other semi-precious stones texture.
According to the idea by Francesco Morena, the conference table features new types of legs. Both of them are made from stainless steel. Still bearing the main idea of the cut stone behind the design, the legs seem aerial and weightless however they give space to its stability and reliability as the basic functional properties. A surface of the table top is made from ziricote veneer specially selected for the Gemstone collection. Ziricote wood has a straight-grained structure with a shining, glossy surface.
Bearing section of the drawer was designed to ensure maximum reliability in case of application of various size table tops. Conjunction of several metal legs creating overhanging edges required especially professional excellence. This solution came true thanks to precise computation and innovational approach during designing and production. A hidden adjustment to control floor unevenness is also mounted into the legs.
