Design lecture center in NAYADA offices
The lecture series “History of Object Design” was launched in the offices of the NAYADA Company. General education courses on the history of design will be conducted until November 19 – for both professionals and enthusiasts.
The classes are being conducted by Olga Kosyreva, an expert in the field of design, well-known design critic, lecturer, journalist and editor who has over 15 years of experience in popular, specialized and business publications.
The course of the Design Lecture Center was opened by an introductory lecture on design, entitled “What is design and why do we need it. What relation has to each of us. People who invented design. Bauhaus and VKHUTEMAS”. The students could get answers to all their common, but, at times, controversial questions. Is design a process or a result? Is the design an art? Can we consider Ancient Greek benches as design or Empire style furniture? When did design appear? Who was the first designer?
Was there design in Russia or is it an entirely Western phenomenon? And what is the difference between the modern and modernism (just in case you did not know), and what role in the birth of modern design was played by the first design school? The course is attended by practicing designers, decorators, architects, owners and employees of furniture companies, textile and floral studios, as well as non-specialists who are interested in this subject.
